The latest class for Citizenship In The Nation started 11 December, 2007. This is an Eagle required merit badge with some homework required. Some of that homework includes watching the news for five days in a row. TV, radio, newspapers and major Internet news websites are all acceptable ways to meet this requirement. Scouts should be prepared to discuss the news stories they learned about, and to discuss specifically how a national story may have an impact on their family. Other requirements include discovering the names of their Senators and Representative. A couple useful links for that are

The class has met three times now, with one more planned for March. After that the scouts will be on their own to complete their independent study requirements. We will put together a field trip in April to visit a Federal facility to help meet one of those requirements.
