Summer Camp, July 11-17, 2010
It’s hard to believe that it’s time again to talk about summer camp. Even though summer camp is not until June, there is several things that need to be done ahead to insure that our troop attends and has a great week. The scouts that attended the yearly planning meeting back in August decided on Camp Shands which is located in Hawthorne, FL north of Ocala, east of Gainesville. Aprox. 130 miles from Winter Springs.
The attached file is the Guide provided by the camp for our troop to follow. It is a standard format that most camps use. The guide breaks out what this camp offers for the individual scout / adult. Merit badge program, High Adventure, C.O.P.E and other exciting programs. Scouts / parents, please take time to sit with each other it discuss this years summer camp. 2010 CAMP SHANDS GUIDE.doc
Page 4 & 5 of the guide is the information from our Troop pertaining to the Camp. Camp date, cost and payment schedule, medical form information, etc: I will be sending out several emails pertaining to summer camp over the next several months. At a later date, we will have a scout / parent / leaders meeting to help make sure that everyone is on track.
Quick summary: Payment schedule (deposit is made) Once deposits are made, we will start taking merit badge selections from the scouts to insure that they get on the list before the classes fill up. Review scout / leaders current medical forms. (All scouts / registered leaders must have a current medical form on file to attend any scouting activities.)
