LITTLE BIG ECON (BACK-PACKING TRIP)

This is a great adventurous trip that teaches about the outdoors without the convenience of the troop trailer and all the ease of camping with it.
We will walk in almost 3 miles to our campsite and spend the night. We will have some group learning and will practice "leave no trace". The boys will have the opportunity to swim in the Econ River, explore the forest, prepare and eat dehydrated foods. Please let me know ASAP if anyone has food allergies so I can be sure to make arrangements. I have ordered enough food to feed 24 people meals for one day. We will drink water filtered from the river and is safe to drink. Our filtration systems we will use removes protozoa and bacteria down to .2 microns in size, including Guardia, salmonella, cryptosporidium and others. Please make sure your son has 2 nalgene water bottles, and biodegradable toilet paper, as there are no facilities.
We will meet Saturday morning at the Civic Center at 8am for pack inspection and departure. The trailhead is 15 minutes away. Please check the attached papers for a packing list and directions as where to pick up your son on Sunday. All Scouts will be picked up at the trailhead around 11:30am Sunday.
You must sign up by Tuesday night. If you have any questions at all please call me, most don't have much experience with backpacking and all questions are welcome. This is a great learning and growing experience for any young man.
